Forty-five-year-old Jose Alvarado faces seven charges related to sexual acts with minors, according to the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office.

Osceola Deputies said that Alvarado confessed to engaging in sexual activity with a boy under 18 years old whom he met on Grindr, a dating app for men and non-gender conforming adults. Alvarado said initially that believed the boy was 18, but during the investigation, it became evident that he knew or should have known the boy’s true age.

The case began in March when child pornography was discovered on Alvarado’s phone. An arrest warrant was issued, charging him with four counts of lewd and lascivious battery and one count of possession of child pornography.

Later during a traffic stop, Alvarado was seen with another juvenile in the passenger seat, claiming the juvenile was his nephew. However, it was found that the juvenile had engaged in sexual relations with Alvarado on multiple occasions.

The juvenile’s mother was also brought in for questioning at the Osceola County Sheriff’s Office. After initially cooperating, she later refused to provide further information. The mother now faces charges for contributing to the delinquency of a minor due to her knowledge and complicity in her son’s relationship with Alvarado.
